Northfield Township seeks residents, students to serve on commission
Northfield Township is seeking residents to serve on its Human Services Review Commission.
The commission is a nine-member board that reviews agency applications, presents reports and makes funding recommendations to the township board of trustees. Each year, Northfield Township funds social agencies that helps residents.
Those interested in the commission work must be township residents - from most of Northbrook, Glenview and part of Northfield - with a background in community service or other volunteer service. Terms are three years.
Of those residents, juniors and seniors in high school also are being sought. Their terms are one to two years.
Duties include attending two Saturday morning meetings, reviewing funding applications and supporting documentation, visiting an applicant's site and interviewing the agency's executive director, and completing an evaluation form and submitting funding recommendations.

Tax bills delayed
On another topic concerning Northfield Township, on Sept. 6 township Assessor Alida Nally announced that Cook County second-installment 2021 property tax bills have been delayed. The projected timeline for them to be mailed is in late fall.
The delay is attributed to the implementation of a new integrated property tax system in Cook County, according to the township.
The delay in the 2021 second-installment tax bills means either homeowners or their escrow accounts must be prepared to pay this 2021 property tax bill, then also pay first-installment 2022 bills that usually are due in early March.
