City reflections on The Bean. Taken Easter Sunday pre-dawn. Michael W. Noonan of Arlington Heights
This is a photo of a baby Black Crowned Night Heron taken at The Graue Mill in Oakbrook. This type of night heron is rather rare in our area. I thought the marking on the bird were really beautiful. They do look completely different in coloring at full maturity. Todd A. Sherlock of Downers Grove
After several months of poor weather in Iceland, the sun finally broke out. Seeing the Gulfoss Waterfall with the sun shining was a rare treat. Chase Monkemeyer of West Chicago
This playful raccoon resides at River Trail nature center, located in Northbrook. Lynne Solway of Buffalo Grove
Beachcombers pose for a group silhouette reflected in a pair of sunglasses at sunset. I captured the photo this April during a visit to Captiva Island on Florida's Gulf Coast. Mike Weimer of St. Charles
I composed this photo while standing below the enormous cast iron chandelier at the Biltmore Estate near Asheville, N.C. The geometry of the chandelier's three rings and intricate staircase railings ascending to the fourth floor interested me. Ken Juranek of Des Plaines
A photo of a cardinal in our snow-covered linden tree taken on April 14. It was a point of beauty on a snowy day. Carol S. Huntsinger of Libertyville
Attached is photo from Grand Cayman. It's a favorite of mine. The colorful flowers in focus while the boat, the water, and the dark, stormy afternoon sky are all blurred. Michael Magnini of Roselle
Many people are happy that winter is over, but not this Siberian husky. Lorraine Mack of Itasca
This is a photo I took in the gardens at the Pittock Mansion in Portland Oregon. I had been shooting garden and landscape photos when this opportunity was encountered, since it was not staged, I had to quickly zoom in and focus, composition (light, subject focus, etc.) was natural and would quickly be lost. I like the contrasts and similarities between the statue, in stone, and the young woman in wonderfully colored dress, both gracefully cradling and holding circular shapes. Art Meierdirk of St. Charles
My granddaughter, Makayla in the Bahamas on March 29, 2019. This being her first visit to the island, she was ecstatic! Dee Marsh of Gurnee
I took this photo at a bird rookery in Orlando Florida on 3-28-19 of a mom egret feeding her baby egrets. New beginnings! (Future punk rockers). Dennis Heuer of Prospect Heights
March 19, 2019, New York City. I was fortunate to be in New York City a few days after The Vessel sculpture, in the Hudson Yards area, opened to the public. Climbing to the top of the honeycomb of interwoven stairs provided a great view down into the blue "eye" at the base. Ken Simpson of Arlington Heights
In the Saguaro National Park just outside of Tucson. There had been some recent rain and the desert was green and the sun was breaking through. Jim Stolzenbach of Buffalo Grove
Super Moon over Naples, FL. I like the composition. Centered full moon, colors (Clouds and tree) on the left and openness on the right. Jim Comerford of Glen Ellyn
The Barn Owls totally silent flight helps then when hunting for there next meal. Fred Share of Arlington Heights
Dewdrop "necklaces" grace a spider's web. This macro photo was taken years ago during our visit with relatives in Wittenberg, Wisconsin. Mike Weimer of St. Charles
This flower was part of a beautiful display set up at the recent Chicago Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier. Lynne Solway of Buffalo Grove
A young couple watch the afterglow of a beautiful sunset from Blind Pass Beach on Sanibel Island, Florida. We traveled with friends to the island this April, where I enjoyed capturing this quiet moment with its beauty and grace. Mike Weimer of St. Charles
