4 arrested in beating of Streamwood man with hammer and stick in Cary

Cary police over the weekend arrested four Crystal Lake residents, three of them in their late teens, on allegations they beat a man with a hammer and stick during a dispute over a suspected theft.

Charged with aggravated battery and mob action were: Sean A. Sanford, 19, of the 500 block of Parkside Court; Sean M. Daly, 22, of the 100 block of Berkshire; Davie R. Lusk, 19, of the 500 block of Glen Ridge; and Kristian E. Huebner, 17, of the 700 block of Darlington Lane.

The charges are felonies, the most serious of which is punishable by a maximum two to five years in prison.

Police began investigating the incident about 7:15 p.m. Saturday when officers responding to a disturbance in the 200 block of North Second Street found several people involved in a fight.

The four suspects fled the scene, but later were apprehended and taken to the McHenry County jail, authorities said. All four appeared in court Monday morning and were released after posting bonds ranging from $100 to $800.

The victim, a 19-year-old Streamwood man, was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington where he was treated for multiple head injuries and released.

According to criminal complaints filed Monday in McHenry County court, Huebner struck the victim's body with a stick and Lusk beat him with a hammer. Daly and Sanford struck and kicked him, the criminal complaints allege.

Police said the altercation remains under investigation.
