Winfield Good Old Days returns with old-fashioned fun Sept. 9-11

The 55th annual Winfield Good Old Days will take you back in time with some old-fashioned fun, including a meatball-eating contest, a ladies shoe-kicking contest, and a bags tournament.

The three-day festival on Sept. 9-11 features live music on the main stage, activities and fun for the children, a variety of foods, activities for adults, and business booths on Church Street between Sunnyside and Beecher.

The Winfield Knights of Columbus Council 8002 and the Winfield Lions Club partners with the village of Winfield and Winfield Park District to provide residents and surrounding community with a free family event to end their summer.

The Knights of Columbus's scholarship fundraising dinner on Thursday, Sept. 8, serves as an unofficial kickoff for the festival.

Festival hours are: 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Church Street and Beecher Avenue.

At noon Saturday, Winfield Historical Society will announce the winners of the coloring contest. Hop aboard the trolley for a ride around the village to visit and hear about historical sites. (Note: the trolley will be in the parade from 1-1:30 p.m.)

A Kids Video Game Truck for fifth to ninth grade will be on site from 4 to 9 p.m. at Church and Liberty streets.
