Learn how to be part of next year's 1673 French Voyagers reenactment on June 5

At the finish line of the 58th running of the Mid-American Canoe and Kayak Race on Sunday, June 5, will be a booth manned by Greg Taylor, the lead of next year's reenactment of the expedition of Jolliet and Marquette's 1673 Voyage of Discovery of the Mississippi River and the Chicago Portage.

The celebration of the 350th anniversary of the expedition is scheduled for launch next year at St. Ignace on May 17, 2023. They are currently looking for willing participants to take part in this reenactment and actively recruiting from the Aurora, Elgin and Chicago area.

Come down to the finish line of the race to learn more details. Three quarters of the crew are accounted for so far. There are six positions that need to be filled.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of the reenactment of the history of the nation's founding - in real time. With real food, real music and real performances on a daily level for four months. So come on down and check us out.

There will be food and drink to purchase at McCullough Park through the race organizers.
