Lake County Bar Association offers free virtual legal clinic

The Community Outreach and Diversity Committee of the Lake County Bar Association will hold a free virtual legal advice clinic via Zoom from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 9. Participants can speak confidentially with an attorney via Zoom.

"Access to justice is important to the members of the Lake County Bar Association. We understand the legal system can be overwhelming to those not familiar with it," said Karissa Anderson, co-chair of the Community Outreach & Diversity Committee.

"We started hosting quarterly call-in clinics via Zoom during 2020 when we could no longer host an in-person Ask-a-Lawyer event. Hosting these clinics via Zoom for the past two years has allowed for members of our community to connect with attorneys in a free, no-stress, no pressure environment."

Experienced attorneys will be available to speak with participants and provide free legal advice in the following areas of law: eviction, immigration, family law, traffic defense, driver's license reinstatement and estate planning.

Attorneys will also be available to answer general questions regarding access to the court system and availability of legal resources in Lake County.

Anyone interested in legal advice in any of these areas can participate in the Zoom session by logging in at us06web.zoom.us/j/84693577773 Meeting ID: 846 9357 7773 between 5 and 7 p.m. June 9.

The Lake County Bar Association was founded in 1912 and is headquartered in Waukegan The association has a membership of more than 850 individuals.
