Lavelle Law Designates Attorney Jennifer Tee as Diversity and Inclusion Officer

Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law announced that attorney and Shareholder Jennifer Tee has been named to the newly established role of Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the firm.

"Taking a proactive approach to diversity and inclusion is something that the partners and shareholders of Lavelle Law feel is our obligation," said Managing Partner Ted McGinn. "We have a long history of inclusion, public service, and protecting the rights of clients and employees, and we are pleased to formalize that approach. Jennifer is the right person to lead us in our goal to expand and further enhance diversity and inclusion in our practice."

Tee has been with Lavelle Law for 10 years and focuses her practice on litigation, business law, probate litigation and employment law matters. She welcomes the opportunity to take on the new responsibilities.

"I'm proud that our firm has been at the forefront of the issue of inclusion, not only for our employees but for our clients as well," Tee said. "Our world is becoming much more aware of respecting and accepting people of all backgrounds but it is important that there be substance behind the statements that many companies make. I look forward to putting our ideas into action as Diversity and Inclusion Officer."

Lavelle Law is currently comprised of 31 attorneys working across 18 practice groups. McGinn said that while the firm has always been conscious of hiring attorneys and staff from a variety of backgrounds, there is more work to be done.

"We want our staff to reflect the community we serve. Our senior attorneys have always taken an active role in mentoring and training the next generation of practitioners in our firm, and as we become more inclusive and diverse, it provides a pathway for attorneys of all backgrounds to be successful."

Tee wants that to extend to the firm's client base as well.

"It's important that anyone seeking exceptional legal representation feels welcome and that we have a culture that respects every client who walks through our door."

Lavelle Law's main office is in Schaumburg and maintains an additional office in the Chicago Loop. The firm was founded in 1989 as a single attorney practice with an emphasis on tax law. The firm has added more than a dozen practice groups including Estate Planning, Business Law, Banking Law, Litigation, Criminal, Immigration, Divorce and Family Law, Commercial and Residential Real Estate and Law Practice Consulting. The firm has received numerous awards and commendations for their business success, their commitment to ethics, national recognition for their pro bono services, and multiple acknowledgements of the charitable work they do in the local communities.
