Kids and adults can sign up for art classes

Anderson Arts Center announces April and May creative classes for children and adults.

• "Painting Places" for ages 12-17 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 17. Children will bring a photo of their yard, house, garden, park, vacation spot, or any place they like to be and learn the techniques of painting with acrylics. $40 per student.

• "Earth Day Art" for ages 5-11 will be from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 24. Children will celebrate Earth Day by creating art in honor of the plants and rocks of the Earth. In this program, students will paint a pot, plant a flower, and learn how to take care of it. Also, they will learn how to turn their lakeshore rock collection into art by painting a mini scene on a rock. $40 per student.

• "Garden Art for Mother's Day" for ages 5-10 will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 8. Children will create art for their mother or the mother figures in their life. In this program, students will learn how to make a flower basket for gathering garden treasures out of fleece and yarn, a personalized stress toy with a balloon, and wooden flower ornaments. $35 per student.

• "Ballroom Dance" for all ages and skill levels will run for four weeks from 7-8 p.m. Tuesdays, May 11 to June 1. The class covers basic dance skills and advanced techniques. $75 per couple for all four weeks. A second session will be offered starting June 8.
