Kara Murphy joins the Student Excellence Foundation as a board member following many years of service in the community. She is a member of the District 200 Enrollment Committee and was a PTA vice president and president at Hawthorne Elementary School in Wheaton. She also serves as a computer instructor and food pantry volunteer at the People's Resource Center, and has served for several years on the foundation's grant review committee.

Professionally, Murphy is the head of sales operations at Shipwell, a startup that provides automation, visibility, and connectivity to supply chains. She has spent her career improving process and technology efficiencies across various companies and industries.

Murphy is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she received a BS in Management Information Systems and Decision Sciences. She is married to Colin Murphy, a local business owner and youth coach in every sport that their sons have played. Most days of the week, the couple can be found chauffeuring to or attending various sporting events. The Murphy boys attended Hawthorne Elementary School, currently attend Franklin Middle School, and will attend Wheaton North High School.

Please join the foundation board in welcoming Kara Murphy! We look forward to her impact.
