Schaumburg Township Library to Reopen

Beginning Monday, July 6, all Schaumburg Township District Library locations will reopen to the public with limited hours, occupancy and services. To ensure the health and safety of library patrons and staff, there are adjustments to hours of service, capacities and services available, as well as additional safety guidelines.

For seniors and vulnerable individuals, the Schaumburg location, 130 S. Roselle Rd., will be open from 9-11 a.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - noon, Saturdays, and noon-1 p.m. on Sundays. Hours for the general public are 2-8 p.m., Monday through Friday; 2-5 p.m., Saturdays; and noon to 1 p.m. on Sundays.

Patrons of the Hoffman Estates and Hanover Park branch libraries will also have temporarily altered hours. Seniors and vulnerable individuals may come to the branch libraries from 10 a.m. - noon Monday through Saturday. The branches will open to the general public from 2-8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 1-4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Both branch libraries will be closed on Sundays.

"We're grateful to our community's ongoing patience and support throughout this unprecedented time and can't wait to see our patrons again," said Annie Miskewitch, the library's executive director. "Rest assured we are putting health and safety at the forefront of our priorities and will follow the guidelines of our governor and public health officials."

Safety measures include setting maximum capacity limits at each location in order for staff to serve patrons safely and maintain social distancing, Miskewitch explained. Additionally, the library is asking community members to limit their library visits to two hours per day. All staff and patrons ages 2 and older must wear a mask while in the library, and disposable masks will be available for patrons who arrive without one.

For those who prefer to retrieve their library materials outside, curbside pickup will continue, but hours will change beginning July 6. Curbside pickup will take place at all locations from Monday through Saturday, but only the Central Library in Schaumburg will offer this service on Sundays. Details are available on the library's website.

"We're all in these challenging times together," Miskewitch said. "We will continue taking every step to serve our community safely, and hope to see old friends and new faces in the weeks to come."
