Donate Socks for the Homeless at Schaumburg Township Library

A collection of socks for the homeless is taking place at all three of the Schaumburg Township District Library locations until the libraries close on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The "Socktober" collection bins are located in the lobbies of the Central Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg; the Hoffman Estates Branch, 1550 Hassell Rod, Hoffman Estates; and the Hanover Park Branch, 1266 Irving Park Rd., Hanover Park. The collection is coordinated by Socks and Souls, with all donations given to homeless people. Donated socks must be new, with tags or store packaging.

According to Socks and Souls, "every night in the United States, an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets and need simple things, like socks, to help get them through the night. Plus the number one needed clothing item for those in need is new socks, but people very rarely ever donate new socks to the homeless."
