Susan Anne Russell exhibition Mixed Palettes 2016

Susan Anne Russell will be exhibiting her paintings at the Adler Mansion November 11-December 14, 2016 in an exhibition titled Mixed Palettes. The show will be covering an eclectic body of work representing three prominent artists who work in diverse styles. Susan Anne Russell's art has been described as Dreamlike Impressionism. She creates powerful landscapes that are often not found in reality. Oftentimes, her art incorporates mythological and iconic figures that are embedded in literature and history. She allows dreams to filter into her work, giving it an ethereal feel.

Susan has shown her paintings at Adler Mansion on many occasions. Her first exhibit was a solo show in 2011. Since then she has participated in many shows including the Shakespeare show this past year. This show was part of a running exhibition of Shakespeare's folios that were nationally exhibited at numerous museums and universities. Susan depicted in her paintings romantic figures such as Juliet and Desdemona. Additionally her work has sold at the annual Speakeasy auctions held at the Adler Mansion.

"One of the highlights of my life as an artist was when Saatchi Gallery in London informed me that a collector from Milan wanted to purchase one of my paintings. The work was titled "Large Waterfall with Vines" and was shipped to Milan in a custom crate. Additionally Susan sold "Waterfall Drapery" this year to a collector in Florida. "Selling my work in Chicago has been a wonderful experience, but it is an extra rush when someone feels a connection to my work in a faraway place. This connection keeps me rooted in my art and sustains my inspiration."

As far as inspiration, Susan is a spiritual person and feels life is based on a combination of fate and choice. As a professor, artist, performer, musician and author, she has been involved in the arts since childhood. As a mother of three she enjoys the fulfillment that sustains her life.

"I consider myself a privileged individual. I feel inspired to create beauty and meaning. Beauty is everywhere. It is up to us to find it."

Mixed palettes will feature Susan Russell, Jim Brooksher and Marla Goldberg. The three artists combine to create a well curated event covering a representation of contemporary art. The Opening Exhibit will be held on Nov 11 from 6-8pm. Wine and appetizers will be served. The Adler Mansion is located at 1700 North Milwaukee Ave in

Libertyville, Illinois. http://www.adlercenter.org/index.php/attend/exhibitions/
