Stanton School Kicks Off NFL Day

Stanton School in Fox Lake kicked off Super Bowl Weekend with an exciting NFL Academic Pep Rally. In this case, however, NFL meant Nod for Learning. During the football themed rally 167 students we recognized because they worked hard, stayed in the game, and were successful. Stanton's Principal, Mr. Sefcik and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Peters are very proud of their student's academic accomplishments. Students received a Nod for Learning for meeting or exceeding the Illinois State Standards in math and reading in last spring's PARCC tests, increasing their math and reading scores in MAP testing, being in the top 10 of their class after the first semester, and achieving 75% or higher on their winter math and reading MAP tests. The assembly was filled with fun, enthusiasm, and prizes including a raffle for college t-shirts. "Any day we can recognize student achievement at Stanton School is a great day", said Mr. Sefcik. "The message to our kids is your future starts now and they have the power within them to do great things, even if they face obstacles it's important to get back up and keep going". Stanton School is gearing up to take the PARCC tests again in April and they will be tackling MAP tests at the end of the month.
