Rauner appoints Mundelein woman to ethics commission

Gov. Bruce Rauner named a Mundelein woman to one of the state's top watchdog agencies Friday.

Rauner appointed Teresa Bartels to serve as a member of the Executive Ethics Commission, according to paperwork filed with the secretary of state.

The panel oversees conduct for most of the executive branch of Illinois state government, and the position pays $37,571 per year, according to the appointment letter.

Bartels once ran for Congress in the 8th Congressional District before pulling out of the Republican primary race before the 2006 election.

Rauner also named Luke Allen of Lisle to the Governor's Rural Affairs Council.

That 25-member group is tasked with coming up with a statewide rural development plan.
