Flooding hits Lake, Cook and Kane counties

Storms last night caused flash floods in Lake, Cook and Kane counties, requiring some roads and intersections be shut down for a time. Lake County experienced localized flooding that closed several intersections, including at routes 45 and 137 and at routes 41 and 176. Full story.

Addison home damaged by lightning strike

Lightning struck an Addison home last night and caused a fire on the 1400 block of West Byron Avenue. Neighbors witnessed the strike about 7 p.m., and the residents were able to escape unharmed. Full story.

Downers Grove barber lands BET gig

T. Murph, a 29-year-old barber from Downers Grove, recently landed a coveted spot on BET's "Comic View." T. Murph, whose real name is Guerterrius Jackson, was chosen from a pool of hundreds of comics nationwide, including 57 in Chicago alone, for the stand-up segment. Full story.

Bartlett house damaged by fire

A fire fueled by natural gas caused about $100,000 in damage to a home in Bartlett yesterday afternoon. Firefighters say the fire originated in an external wall, near the home's natural gas meter. Full story.

Aurora man with mental health issues missing

Aurora police asked for the public's help in locating a missing 21-year-old with known psychiatric issues. Elijio Martinez Jr. has not been seen since Friday morning. He may not speak when spoken to, police said. Full story.

Man robs Waukegan bank

A man robbed NorStates Bank in Waukegan Monday afternoon, police said. The man entered the bank, 1601 N. Lewis Ave., about 12:40 p.m. and passed the bank teller a note demanding the money. Full story.

Cloudy and muggy with temperatures hovering around 66 degrees. Temperatures will only climb to about 68 degrees this afternoon before dipping back to 47 degrees overnight. Full weather.

Cubs pound Cards 17-5

Hawks can clinch tonight

The Blackhawks have a 3-2 series lead and can eliminate the Wild with a victory tonight night at the Xcel Center. "To do exactly whatever it takes to clinch this series is one of the hardest things, but I feel like we have the confidence and the poise and the relaxation that we don't get ahead of ourselves and just play shift by shift," Bryan Bickell said.
