New Trier teams up for relay title; Libertyville third

In the New Trier Relays on Saturday, the host Trevians rose to the top of a star-studded field of boys swimming and diving teams to win with 165 points.

Hinsdale Central (120) took second place, followed by Libertyville (106), Evanston (96), Neuqua Valley and Stevenson (95) and Barrington (94.5).

New Trier’s Jae Park broke his own meet record in winning the 200-yard IM (1:52.35), just ahead of Libertyville’s Alex Snarski (1:55.35).

Snarski later won the 100 backstroke in a meet record 50.71, and Park won the 100 breast in 57.36.

Libertyville won the medley relay with Snarski, Bobby Snader, Matt Harrington and Atticus Rush finishing in 1:36.57.

Harrington took top honors in the 200 free (1:43.51) and placed fourth in the 500 free (4:54.88), and both Libertyville freestyle relays took second.

Stevenson had an individual champ in Nick Koto, who won the 500 free in 4:47.62. Koto and Dimitriy Pelutis paired for the runner-up team finish in the 200 free, where their combined time was 3:36.79.

Barrington’s top effort came from senior Sebastian Piekarski, who placed fourth in the 50 free (22.23). Teammate Sam Miseyka was seventh in 22.57.

The Broncos’ Mitch Gavars and Jeremy Kleinjan finished fifth and ninth individually in the 500 free, and their combined time of 9:59.83 was second-best behind New Trier.

Barrington’s 400 free relay of Piekarski, William Hobbs, Colin O’Leary and Miseyka was fourth in 3:18.84.
