MSL West teams excel at Sterling

The Mid-Suburban West was well represented in Saturday’s Sterling Invitational, as Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates and Conant took places 2, 3 and 4 in the team race.

Schaumburg placed four runners in the top ten: Ellie O’Connell (fifth), Erin Falsey (eighth), Caroline Kurdej (ninth) and Ali Gutt (10th). The Saxons finished with 78, just behind team champ Minooka (74).

Hoffman Estates’ Solome Haile finished fourth in 18:08. The Hawks finished at 94 and also got top-25 efforts from Yazmin Nunez (13th), Alondra Aguirre (19th) and Meagan Biddle (24th).

Conant (194) got its top finish from Zoe Shoro (25th).

Senior Mailin Struck of Riverside-Brookfield won in 17:02.
