Rejman medalist as Westminster advances in 1A
Westminster Christian senior Connor Rejman shot a 76 Tuesday at Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin to win medalist honors and lead the Warriors to a team qualifying spot out of their own Class 1A boys golf regional.
Westminster shot a 338, taking third place after losing a scorecard tiebreaker to Aurora Christian. North Shore Country Day won the team title with a 336.
The top 3 teams and top 10 individuals not on a qualifying team advance to play in Monday’s Byron sectional at Prairie View.
Junior Matt Swing shot an 84 for the Warriors, while they also counted an 88 from junior Andrew Howard and a 90 from senior Logan Hopp.
Elgin Academy sophomores Frankie Biconti (81) and Elliot Gorman (92) also advanced. The Hilltoppers were sixth as a team with a 363.
Harvest Christian also competed, finishing 12th with a 457.
At Conant: Bartlett qualified three golfers and Streamwood two out of the Class 3A Conant regional at Poplar Creek. Hawks senior Cal Fanslow had an 80, while junior Mike Coyne shot 83 and senior Chris Dungey 85 to advance to Monday’s Naperville Central sectional at Springbrook.
Streamwood sophomore Chase Pantle had an 86 and Sabres’ senior Eric Hamlin shot an 87 to advance.
Addison Trail won the team title with a 321. Conant (328) and Glenbard North (334) also advanced. Bartlett was fifth with a 336 and Streamwood ninth with a 373.
