Make more summer memories in Schaumburg

Summer’s already winding down, but there’s still time to add some more good memories to replace those of the blistering heat and drought.

If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to indulge in a summer picnic this year, the Schaumburg Park District has one already planned out for you.

The park district will host a family picnic from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. next Thursday, Aug. 16, at Volkening Lake at 900 W. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

The event will feature a moon bounce, carnival games, music, paddle boating and face painting. Barbecued food will be available for purchase.

Admission is $2 and includes all activities. Meals will be available for $3 and include a brat or hot dog, chips and a drink.

The final three concerts in the Summer Breeze Concert Series are also taking place over the next Saturdays.

The Voices play Aug. 11, Heartache Tonight on Aug. 18 and Frank Winkler and the Symphonic Pops Orchestra on Aug. 25.

The concerts begin at 7 p.m. on their respective Saturdays on the grounds of the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center at 101 Schaumburg Court in Schaumburg.

Admission is free, but pets aren’t allowed on the grounds during the concerts. The shows are co-sponsored by the Schaumburg Park District and village of Schaumburg.
