Submitted by McHenry County Conservation District
Join McHenry County Conservation District and renowned Woodstock artist Tom Trausch, listed in Who’s Who in American Art, for a three day “en plein air” workshop: Painting and Drawing the Essence of the Landscape: Capturing Nature with Pencil, Pen & Brush, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays: April 20, May 4 and 11, at three different conservation district sites.
Trausch will do a demonstration each day dealing with a particular aspect of the landscape followed by one-on-one instruction. Participants of all experience levels will work directly from nature to compose a solid picture, work with values to create form, use expressive line to create interest and focus, and learn the use of washes of color to enhance the drawing or painting they’ve created. Completed works will be featured in an exhibit at the Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park at a later date.
Class size is limited to 12, so register early; deadline is April 15. Open to ages 14 and older. Fee is $180 for county residents and $225 for nonresidents. Further details and supply lists will be sent upon confirmation of registration. The entire workshop will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
Locations: are April 20, Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Ringwood; May 4, Prairieview Education Center, Crystal Lake; May 11, Fel-Pro RRR, Cary. Participants will work from photo references indoors as necessary. For more information visit trauschfinearts.com.
