Recycle electronics at Arlington Heights library

An electronic recycling program at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library launches on Earth Day, Friday, April 22.

Small electronics like cellphones and laptops can be dropped off near the circulation desk. From there they will go to Recycling Avenue, a nonprofit company based in Wheeling run by physically challenged young adults.

A list of acceptable items is on the library website, ahml.info/

Not acceptable are appliances and computer towers or monitors.

During May the library, EYEsee and St. Viator High School students will collect used eyeglasses. They will be used for medical missions to Third World countries. More info on this drive is at eyeseemission.org.

May and June also bring gardening programs and discussion about two books that deal with the environment and green living.
