Winter in Italy French Toast
2 tablespoons sugar
Pinch of nutmeg and/or cinnamon
6 slices white bread
cups roasted apples
1 cup mascarpone cheese
Ground cinnamon, to taste
cup toasted walnuts
cup caramel sauce
In a medium bowl, beat the eggs; add half-and-half, sugar and spices and mix until well combined.
Heat a griddle over medium heat. Dip bread into batter and grill on both sides until golden brown. Set aside and keep warm.
Stir cinnamon into mascarpone cheese. Layer the cinnamon mascarpone between each piece of French toast being stacked and top with roasted apples, walnuts and raisins. Drizzle with warm caramel sauce and enjoy.
