Adelizzi remains Schaumburg Twp. GOP committeeman

Schaumburg Township Republican Committeeman Mike Adelizzi Tuesday won re-election to the job he was appointed to in 2007.

With 90 of 94 precincts reporting, Adelizzi was leading challenger Anita Forte-Scott 3,514 to 2,190, getting 61.6 percent of the vote.

Adelizzi, of Elk Grove Village, became committeeman after his predecessor, 56th District state Rep. Paul Froehlich, became a Democrat.

Adelizzi supported Schaumburg Township District Library Trustee Anita Forte-Scott in her unsuccessful 2008 run against Froehlich.

But when Adelizzi threw his support to Ryan Higgins in this year's Republican primary for the state House seat, Forte-Scott challenged him for control of the local party.

Though defeated in both races Tuesday, Forte-Scott said she remains committed to the Republican Party and its principles.
