Jessica Tackett (2-for-3, 6 RBI) belted her second and third home runs of the season as the Vikings improved to 2-0 after an 11-1 nonconference softball win over Prairie Ridge in 5 innings in Palatine. Tackett has 10 RBI in two games.
Kristine Werling (4-for-4, 3 runs), Jenny Schneider (3-for-4, 2 runs, RBI), Lauren Zaworski (3-for-4, 1 run, 2 RBI) and Alexa Cinquegrani (2-for-3, double, 1 run) also led the Vikings' offense.
Junior Emily Janes recorded her first varsity hit with a one-out RBI single to right in the third inning.
Vkings junior Lena Brottman threw a 3-hitter with 10 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Resurrection 4, Conant 2 (8 innings): Junior Vicki McGuire went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles for the Cougars in their season opener in Hoffman Estates.
Cougars freshman pitcher Brianna Cavin threw all 8 innings, striking out five with no walks.
Hanah Somogyi had 22 strikeouts and gave up 8 hits for Resurrection, which scored 3 runs in the top of the eighth.

St. Viator 9, Regina 0: The host Lions opened their season with Abby Dickey (2 hits, double, 3 RBI), Bridget Urbanus (3 hits, RBI) and Julie Sweeney (3 hits, double, 3 RBI) leading the offense.
Sweeney earned the shutout with 9 strikeouts and 3 walks while tossing a 2-hitter.
Barrington Spring Fling: Lake Zurich defeated Warren 6-1 to take third place while Deerfield posted a 5-0 victory over Maine West (1-1) in the fifth-place game.
Warriors coach Mike Murin said that senior all-area ace pitcher Emily Ott (1-1) suffered a knee injury Tuesday and will be evaluated later in the week.
