Elgin 101 program

An informational program on how the city of Elgin works will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin. Oralia Braun, community outreach coordinator for the city of Elgin, will present an informational program in Spanish about how the city works. She will talk about how the government is structured, what each department is responsible for and the tasks city officials perform. A question-and-answer session follow. Parents host music luncheon

Dundee-Crown Parents of Music Performers are hosting their fourth annual fundraiser for the music programs at the Carpentersville high school. The "Music Changes Lives" concert will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. March 15 at Randall Oaks Golf Club, 4101 Binnie Road. The concert will feature performances from the Dundee-Crown chamber orchestra, jazz band and chamber choir. A silent auction will benefit scholarships for student musicians. Spring for seasonal fare at ECC

Lunch service has resumed at Spartan Terrace, the upscale restaurant operated by students of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute of Elgin at ECC. The restaurant is now open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 30 inside the Culinary Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The menus, created by students and instructors, are changed once during the semester to give students the opportunity to prepare and serve a variety of dishes. This semester, guests can enjoy lunch fare such as sea scallops and risotto, grilled salmon, steak and frites, and seared tuna salad niçoise. Entree prices range from $7 to $10. Reservations for lunch and dinner are recommended and available by calling 847-214-7382.
