Addison traffic enforcement
Addison police made several arrests and issued numerous citations last weekend as part of a DUI crackdown in the village. Police said they made 13 DUI arrests and impounded 15 vehicles for violating village ordinances. They also issued five citations for failure to wear a seat belt; 14 for speeding; 10 for operating an uninsured motor vehicle; and nine for miscellaneous equipment violations.
New Dist. 4 administrator
Jane Cannata will serve as director of special education for Addison School District 4 beginning July 1. Cannata will replace Robert Zanillo, who will retire at the end of the 2008-09 school year. Cannata earned a bachelor's degree in special education from Illinois State University, a master's in educational administration from Northern Illinois University and is in an education leadership doctoral program at National Louis University. Cannata has eight years of teaching experience in a variety of special needs classes at both the elementary and high school level. She currently serves as director of special education for Community High School District 94 in West Chicago.
Crime survivors unite
The DuPage County chapter of Parents Of Murdered Children will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in Wheaton. The group regularly meets on the second Thursday of the month but organizers moved their gathering up one week because of Lincoln's Birthday. Bar seeks applicants
The DuPage County Bar Association is seeking applicants for its Liberty Bell Award, presented annually to a nonlawyer who serves the legal community in a significant way. The deadline to apply is March 2.
