Founders Day brunch
At 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Elgin Community College will hold a 60th anniversary Founders Day brunch on its main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The meal will start with a champagne reception and includes live entertainment, an awards ceremony and prizes. Funds raised support student financial aid and instructional programs. ECC class on green construction
A new spring class at Elgin Community College - Renewable Energy and Technology - will have students build their own working solar air heater. The three-credit class begins Saturday, Jan. 24, and is held over a period of eight Saturdays through May 2. Classes meet from 8 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. at ECC's Industry Training Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Cost of the class is $313. Child center needs funding:
The Adult and Child Rehab Center in Woodstock, a nonprofit organization, is running its annual campaign to raise money so it can continue serving the community. The rehab center's goal is to raise $100,000. To send a donation, point your Web browser to www.adultchildrehabcenter.org and click on "donate."
