Scouting Lakes @ Wauconda

Lakes (5-3, 4-1) at Wauconda (3-5, 2-3)

When: 7:30 p.m.

Last week: Lakes def. Antioch, 38-22; Wauconda def. North Chicago, 41-12.

Skinny: Lakes is staring down just its second playoff spot in school history. The Eagles qualified for the playoffs in 2006, which was the second year of the school's existence. With only 18 total wins in the school record books, a sixth win would tie for most wins in a season at Lakes-Last week, the Eagles stepped up big-time to put themselves in the fortunate position they are in now. Senior running back Andrew Tubek, listed at just 5-foot-6 on the roster, had a monster game. He rolled up 239 yards on 25 carries and scored 3 touchdowns. "We made him (Tubek) look like an all-conference player in just one game," Antioch coach Brian Glashagel said. "That kid was really tough on us, tough to bring down."-Thanks to Tubek, Lakes tallied 408 yards of total offense, one of its largest outputs of the season. Lakes quarterback Nick Hibbing also completed 6 passes for 70 yards-Wauconda, which will not make the playoffs, won't clear an easy path for Lakes. The Bulldogs are coming off a big victory over former head coach Glen Kozlowski and North Chicago last week and would love to piggyback off that to set the tone for next season. Against North Chicago, Wauconda got 2 touchdowns apiece out of quarterback Brian Kent and running back Brandon Hauck. Hauck, also a linebacker, scored one of his touchdowns on defense, off of a blocked punt.
