District 300 hits airwaves today

The leaders of Community Unit District 300's technology team will be on the "People to People" program on WRMN 1410 AM at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6. Eric Willard, the district's chief technology officer, and Deb Hartman, District 300's instructional technology coordinator, will talk about the district's ongoing and future technology initiatives. ECC's forensics team lauded

Elgin Community College's forensics team won five awards during the CLC Holiday Speech Tournament Dec. 6 at the College of Lake County, Grayslake. The team placed sixth overall in the tournament, which featured teams from community and four-year colleges. Anastasia Kuttler of Elgin won first place in prose interpretation. Other awards included a third-place award for Ryan O'Connell of Elgin for programmed oral interpretation; a third-place award for O'Connell and C.J. Watkins of Bartlett for duo interpretation; and a fifth place award for Korie Mulholland of Elgin for informative speaking.

Petitions available for Huntley

Nominating petitions are available for Huntley residents who are interested in running for a seat on the Huntley village board. Mayor Chuck Sass is up for re-election in the spring along with three trustees: Pam Fender, Paul Mercer and John Piwko. You can pick up petitions in the village clerk's office at village hall, 10987 Main St. Petitions can be circulated immediately. You must file your petitions between 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26 at village hall. Call (847) 515-5200.
