Art League to unveil mural at nature center
The Hoffman Estates Art League will host a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday to unveil a new nature mural created by its members at the Schaumburg Park District's Spring Valley Nature Center.
The 30-foot-long mural has been permanently installed in the center's library and portrays northern Illinois' original prairie landscape.
The reception is free, open to the public and will include light refreshments at the center at 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.
After Saturday's reception, the mural can be viewed daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The entry fee of $125 per golfer includes practice range warm-up, 11 a.m. shotgun start, scramble format, 18 holes of golf with a cart, contests, prizes and a barbecue dinner catered by John Barleycorn.
Additionally, there will be eight holes on the course featuring food and beverages from other area restaurants. Two of the featured contests are a Daily Herald Shootout with a $2,000 purse and a Woodfield Putt-of-the-Day with an $800 purse.
To enter, participants can fill out the registration form available online at parkfun.com/LinksCup and return with their payment to the Schaumburg Golf Club at 401 N. Roselle Road, Schaumburg IL 60194.

Wing Fest Sunday: A reminder that this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. will be the eighth annual Woodfield Area Children's Organization's Wing Festival at the Alumni Club in Schaumburg.
For only a $20 donation, attendees 21 and up will receive an unlimited supply of chicken wings from restaurants competing for their vote in a People's Choice contest.
Also included in the price are two drink tickets, chances for raffle prizes and the live musical entertainment that will be playing at the event.
The event will be held rain or shine, though the weather has typically favored Wing Fest in recent years and allowed attendees to enjoy the sun outside.
Money raised goes toward WACO's numerous programs for helping needy children in the area.
It should be stressed that though the event is for the benefit of children, Wing Fest itself is specifically for attendees 21 and up.
A panel of judges at the event selects winners in mild, hot, extreme and creative categories, though all attendees will vote for People's Choice.
