Rogers wins four times as Libertyville laps VH
Taylor Rogers had a 4-for-4 night for Libertyville's swimming and diving team Thursday.
Her efforts helped the Wildcats double-up Vernon Hills 124-62.
Taylor won the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.98) and 100 freestyle (56.06), and also swam on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Melanie Rowland was a double-winner for Vernon Hills, taking the 100 butterfly (58.39) and 100 backstroke (1:01.08).
Libertyville's other individual winners were Sarah Cull in the 500 freestyle (5:35.49), Maggie Boling in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.47), Emily Ott in the 200 individual medley (2:17.76), Whitney Mitchell in the 50 freestyle (25.72) and Brittany Tazzioli in diving (210.40).
Mitchell also swam on the victorious 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Libertyville's Cull, Ott, Boling and Melanie Blair also swam on winning relays.
Vernon Hills took the 400 freestyle relay with Rowland, Kelly Steininger, Maddie Kleinhample and Melanie Lecaroz.
Girls volleyball
Carmel d. St. Joseph: Kaitlyn Howard had 7 kills, 3 blocks and 4 digs for the Corsairs in their 25-7, 25-13 win in East Suburban Catholic Conference action.
Vanessa Toby added 4 kills and 2 aces, while Ashley August lofted 15 assists for Carmel (18-12, 3-5). The Corsairs also got 3 kills apiece from Brooke Bowes and Paige Sivertsen and 3 aces from Megan Paterkiewicz.
Libertyville d. Buffalo Grove: Ali Haws hammered 10 kills, as the Wildcats captured a 25-12, 25-20 decision in nonconference action.
Emma Mach added 6 kills for Libertyville (22-6), and Leigha Bystol had four. Erin DeMarco was 61-of-62 setting with 24 assists, Emma Melendez served for 11 points, including 2 aces, and recorded 14 digs, and Lexie Gibson chipped in 2 blocks and 2 kills.
"Good overall team effort," Libertyville coach Chris Trzyna said. "We did a nice job of regrouping to end the match. Emma Melendez had a nice service run."
Vernon Hills d. Prospect: Brianna Skeens and Rachael Ramsey slammed 9 and 7 kills, respectively, as the Cougars won the nonconference match 25-19, 28-26.
Vernon Hills (18-10-1) also received 20 assists from Kelsey Guglielmi and 10 digs from Alex Larsen.
Wauconda d. Round Lake: Lauren Mead's 8 kills and Kristy Waltenburg's 19 assists helped lead the Bulldogs to a 25-16, 25-14 win in North Suburban Prairie Division action.
Becky Breakfield and Stephanie Olson had 6 and 4 kills, respectively, for Wauconda (16-12, 3-2).
For Round Lake, Brittany Kucia was 23-of-23 setting with 4 assists. Karla Muldowney had 8 digs, Labrenthia Murdock hammered 3 kills, and Amber Phillips recorded 7 blocks.
Conant d. Mundelein: The Mustangs lost the nonconference match 25-20, 25-19, despite 4 kills apiece from Megan Barron and Michelle Parssinen.
Mandi Baumgartner had 14 digs for Mundelein (10-17).
Women's soccer
CLC 8, Robert Morris 1: Ally Yarc scored 3 goals and Melanie Rasor had 2 goals and 2 assists for the College of Lake County (13-3).
Mallory Drozd scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick.
