Sprain sidelines Wauconda senior BradonPrate
One of Lake County's best high school football players could be out of action the entire month of September.
Wauconda senior defensive end/tight end Bradon Prate suffered what he called a Grade 2 sprain of his medial collateral ligament and a Grade 1 sprain of his anterior cruciate ligament in the Bulldogs' season opener against Huntley.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder, who committed to Illinois State this summer, said he expects to be sidelined 2-4 weeks.
He got injured on the first play of the game against Huntley while playing defense.
"I got chop-blocked on my inside right knee," Prate said. "I just thought it was a dead leg so I played on it for two quarters. After halftime, when we went out, I couldn't turn. I couldn't move."
Wauconda has remaining September games against Round Lake, Antioch and Mundelein. Prate hopes to be on the field for Wauconda's homecoming game against Grant on Saturday, Oct. 3.
