Outlook: As much as it seems like Downers South has run away with the Gold title, Addison Trail still has a shot at it. The Blazers enjoyed their best effort of the season last week to keep their playoff hopes alive. The backfield tandem of running back Frank Cervantes, who's rushed for 780 yards, and quarterback Anthony Catanese, who's added 375 yards, leads a dominant rushing game. Catanese also had his best passing game last week by completing 7 of 10 passes for 90 yards. The defensive line, anchored by Bill Schweer, played marvelously. They'll need to play even better against a diverse Downers South offense headlined by University of Illinois-bound quarterback Chandler Whitmer. His top target is Jason Jozaites, who boasts 42 catches for 674 yards. The ground game has been in flux because of a lingering ankle injury to sophomore Josh Williams, but Reggie Miller stepped up with 70 rushing yards last week. The defense received a boost with the recent return from injury by linebacker Jim Campion. The Mustangs also lean on the line duo of Tyler Rocco and Ryan Kelly.
