Sabres score another win

With 2 goals from Alex Perez, Streamwood (5-0-1) pushed past Marmion in the opening round of the Pepsi Showdown. Assisting one goal was Alex Aranda. In the net, Edgar Leyva blocked 9 shots on goal for the Sabres.

Crystal Lake South 1, Crystal Lake Central 0: Crystal Lake South (3-4-1) ended a 4-game losing skid with this Fox Valley Crossover win against crosstown rival Crystal Lake Central. Brandon Dybdal scored the lone goal of the game assisted by Brian Schuda. In goal, Zach Dalzell preserved the shutout recording 8 saves.

Huntley 3, Jacobs 3: Tied 1-1 at the half, both Huntley (1-0-2) and Jacobs scored a pair in the second half to conclude this Fox Valley Crossover match in a 3-3 tie. Mark Kyzska opened up the scoring for the Golden Eagles with a penalty kick, but Nico Carbonara quickly answered back for Huntley off a dish by Jordan Contreras. Carbonara added a second goal in the second half and later assisted a goal by Kareem Rassas. For Jacobs, Jonathan Kowalski and Sam McKee (Mike Wallace assist) kept it even. Defending the net for Huntley, Kevin Montelongo tallied 23 saves, while Danny Trevor (2 saves) was in goal for Jacobs.

Cary-Grove 3, Johnsburg 0: A pair of goals from Nick McDonald helped Cary-Grove (5-0) remain unbeaten with this win over Johnsburg. Calvin Brown contributed with a goal and an assist and Matt Latawiec also had an assist. With 4 saves, Ben Avvela maintained the shutout.

Larkin 2, Marist 0: Larkin (5-0) opened play in the Pepsi Showdown with this 2-0 shutout over Marist as Raziel Somarriba recorded 3 saves in goal for the Royals. Raul Sandoval scored both goals for Larkin with passes from Carson McFadden and Michael Berequin.

Grayslake North 2, Dundee-Crown 0: Unable to generate any offense, Dundee-Crown (2-4) dropped this Fox Valley Crossover contest to Grayslake North. Josh Cook collected 7 saves in goal for the Chargers.
