Township residents were very generous
The holiday season is a time for sharing and caring.
This year, in spite of the economic recession, our generous community came forward to help their neighbors in need. The Township Food Pantry received enough food to keep it well-stocked into the coming months. Gift certificates and cash were also generously donated, which will insure that the pantry will be able to meet the need of nearly 300 families per month that visit the food pantry.
In addition, many area individuals, groups and businesses participated in our Adopt-A-Family program by providing gifts and food to 327 township families, senior citizens and disabled adults. Three hundred children benefited with gifts of clothing and toys to help make their holiday special.
A special thank you is extended to all who volunteered their time and talent this season. Volunteerism took many forms: sorting food at the food pantry; organizing food drives; coordinating an Adopt-A-Family program for the township in their business, school, church or community organization.
A healthy and happy New Year to all and thank you for your generosity and compassion.
