Elgin Community College officials said Tuesday that one more individual has filed to run for a trustee seat. Ask the mayor

Elgin Mayor Ed Schock and new 43rd District State Rep. Keith Farnham will host an open town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. For details, call (847) 742-2411.

Dundee Township GOP forum

Republican candidates for offices in Dundee Township who are vying for their party's nomination in the February 24 primary election will hold a candidate's forum from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 31 at the Dundee Township Library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee. Since there are no contested races in the Democratic party, the forum will be a Republican primary forum only. There are three candidates for Dundee Township supervisor - incumbent Sue Harney, Don Rage and Pamela L. Griffin; one candidate for road commissioner - incumbent Larry Braasch; six candidates for township board - incumbents Chuck Behm, David Edwards and Ken Schaffer plus Paul Lanopa, Margaret O. Scarpelli and JoAnn Fritz. There will be two new faces vying for the position of township assessor as longtime Assessor Dan McMahon has chosen not to run again. They are Lee Barrett and Michael Bielak. All have been invited to speak and fill out their qualifications for a voter's guide that will be available at the Saturday forum.

MCEDC launches wage survey

The McHenry County Economic Development Corp. this year will again produce a McHenry County Wage, Benefit and Salary Survey. The 49th edition of the annual survey will track local wages in manufacturing and nonmanufacturing sectors, and provide a breakdown of salaries in three sections: executive level, factory and office positions. Any McHenry County business may participate in the survey for no cost beginning Feb. 1 through March 15. Results, available April 15, are free to all participants. Non-participants may purchase survey results for $250 by contacting the MCEDC. The survey can be accessed at the agency's Web site, www.mcedc.com.
