Woman loses fetus in crash

A Crystal Lake woman lost the fetus she was carrying after her car was struck by another car head on Monday in Woodstock.

A 1999 Pontiac Sunfire was traveling northbound on the 500 block of Eastwood Drive at 1:46 p.m. when it veered into the southbound lane and hit a 2000 Hyundai Accent driven by the pregnant driver, Lynette Volant, 19, of Crystal Lake, according to the Woodstock Police Department.

It's unknown why the Pontiac's driver, Elaine Kokaska, 62 of Harvard, headed into traffic in the other direction, police said.

The drivers were taken to Woodstock Centegra Hospital. It's unclear the extent of their injuries.

Sgt. Richard Johns said Wednesday no citations had been issued at this point.

Police said they were continuing their investigation.
