McHenry makes quick work of Dundee-Crown

Things were looking up for Dundee-Crown. With the Chargers looking for their first win against winless McHenry, they appeared to tie the game late in the first quarter.

But the touchdown was called back on a holding penalty. D-C settled for Chris Steele's 27-yard field goal and it was pretty much downhill from there.

Robert Tonyan threw for 415 yards and 5 touchdowns as McHenry pulled away to spoil D-C's homecoming with a 57-15 win in Fox Valley Conference Valley action.

With Tonyan picking apart the Charger secondary, the Warriors led 33-3 at halftime and continued to pull away after the break.

Byran Wegner hauled in 9 passes forf 130 yards and a score. Trevor Jones caught 5 passes for 92 yards and 2 scored and ran for another score. Corey Szamlewski had 4 catches for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns., and Joe Kreig added a pair of scores on the ground.

"It was 7-0, we got a touchdown called back, and maybe would have gotten a little bit of momentum," said Charger coach Mike Davis. "But, they beat the heck out of us."

The Chargers were unable to control Tonyen.

"One time we had him wrapped up and he rolls out here and throws a 50-yard pass," said Davis.

Charger quarterback Tanner Kotlan did his best to keep the Chargers in the game. He completed 16 of 29 for 253 yards, including 2 second-half touchdown passes to Danny Sharp.

Ivan Arline led the Chargers' ground attack with 35 yards.

D-C closes out its home schedule next week against archrival Jacobs.
