Schaumburg Township winter heat program taking applications

Schaumburg Township's senior and disability services departments is taking applications for LIHEAP (low-income home energy assistance program) for township residents age 60 and over or people with disabilities.

Eligible applicants of households with incomes of up to 150 percent of the federal poverty level may receive a one-time payment toward gas and electric utility bills. Applicants may receive one grant per household per program year. The gross income for a family of 1 is $1,354 for the preceding 30 days; for a family of eight, it is $4,626.

To apply for LIHEAP, applicants must bring proof of gross income from all household members for the 30-day period to the application date, current copy of the utility bills, proof of Social Security numbers of all household members, and if a household member receives Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the person must bring their public aid card.
