Dist. 26 may sell MaplewoodCary Elementary District 26's finance committee has backed a consultant's recommendation to sell the Maplewood School site while continuing to lease out the former Oak Knoll school. Maplewood closed this year because of declining enrollment and budgetary concerns. According to the consultant's analysis, selling the Maplewood site could net a substantial upfront payment plus an annual revenue stream if the site is redeveloped. The district would most likely have to relocate its bus parking and refueling area, which is next to the school site, the consultant noted. The full school board could take up the issue at its next regular meeting on July 26.Adopt a pet in Crystal LakeThe McHenry County Animal Welfare Coalition is hosting the "Doggie/Kitty Days of Summer" adoption fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at McHenry County Animal Control, 100 N.
