U-46 ETA scholarships:The Elgin Teachers Association will award five $1,000 scholarships to U-46 seniors who will begin their study in education in the fall as they head to colleges around the Midwest. In addition, numerous awards will be given to sixth- and eighth-grade students. The ceremony will take place at 7 tonight in the Larkin High School Auditorium, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin.United Way honors supporters:Fox Valley United Way will honor supporters and volunteers at its annual breakfast Thursday at Pipers Banquets in Aurora. Large companies being recognized include: Caterpillar, which will receive the Top Contributor Award; and Jewel-Osco, Wrigley and the Aurora Fire Department, which will receive Community Action Awards. Campaign Awards will be presented to Indian Prairie Unit District 204, Nicor, ComEd, Old Second National Bank and Hollywood Casino. Smaller companies that will be recognized include 121 Marketing Resources, B2b Interactive Marketing, Clear Belief Systems, Dick's Mini Donuts and Malcolm Wolf.Concert for charity:Teen bands including Red Tie Trio, Lightspeak and B-Town Brass Band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. May 28 at the Eastside Community Center in Batavia in a benefit for the American Cancer Society. Tickets are $10 and include pizza, drink, dessert and two raffle tickets. The event is organized by the Batavia High School Key Club.Yoga at park:Classes for yoga at the Peck Farm Park Orientation Barn in Geneva will be at 7:15 a.m. Wednesdays starting June 9. Cost is $45 for Geneva Park District residents, $55 for others. To register, go to genevaparks.org to sign up.Festival Chorus concert:The Fox Valley Festival Chorus will present its spring concert, "It's a Grand Night for Singing," at 3 p.m. June 13 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 N. Edgelawn Drive, Aurora. Tickets for the concert and reception are $10 a person or $25 for families of five or fewer. Dr. John performs at 7 p.m. June 18 at the arboretum, 4100 Route 53, Lisle. Garfunkel follows at 7 p.m. June 19 and Kenny Loggins takes the stage at 7 p.m. June 20.
