Christiansen gives Lakes walk-off win

Megan Massie's double tied it. Jenelle Christiansen's double won it.

Christiansen's walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning rallied Lakes' softball team past Libertyville 6-5 in a North Suburban Conference crossover Friday.

Lakes (11-11) trailed 5-0 after Libertyville scored four times in the top of the seventh. An RBI single by Christiansen got the Eagles on the board in the bottom of the inning.

Lakes' seventh-inning rally started with a one-out double by Jessica Bruggen. A walk and popout later, Sara Braden tripled in 2 runs to make it a 5-3 game.

Back-to-back doubles by Massie and Christiansen (3-for-4) capped the comeback.

Libertyville got 3-for-4 efforts from Toni Kintzel and Olivia Wilcox, each of whom had a triple. Nicole Kruckman cracked a double.

Warren 11, Round Lake 0: Alex Booker homered, doubled twice, scored 3 runs and knocked in 3 for the Blue Devils in the NSC crossover.

Booker and Lindsay Horwitz hit back-to-back home runs in a 5-run second inning.

Warren (17-5) got 2 hits apiece from Sarah Clauser (RBI, triple), Sarah Shanders (RBI) and Amanda Reed (RBI). Abby Anderson contributed a triple.

Winning pitcher Marcee Olvera allowed 1 hit over 5 innings.

Wauconda 14, Lake Forest 0: Cara Nance and Kayla Stos homered for the visiting Bulldogs in the NSC crossover.

Nance finished 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Wauconda (15-9) received 2 hits apiece from Kate Martino (double, 4 RBI, 2 runs), Stos and Alex Manusos (3 runs). Rachel Hughes added a double.

Stos threw a 5-hitter over 5 innings, striking out a pair.

Prairie Ridge 5, Grayslake Central 2: Claire Brennan had a pair of doubles for the Rams in their Fox Valley Conference loss.

Vernon Hills 4, Zion-Benton 2: Megan Meline busted open a close game by belting a 3-run homer in the fifth inning and finished 3-for-3 for the host Cougars in the NSC crossover.

Meline also earned the save, with Jennifer Claussen pitching 51/3 innings for the win. Paige Kahalnik added a double for Vernon Hills (7-14).
