Vernon Hills clinches share of NSC title

Vernon Hills' boys volleyball team clinched a share of the North Suburban Conference championship with a 25-8, 25-22 win over Lakes on Wednesday night.

Vernon Hills (26-2, 9-0) received 5 kills from Garrett Kubacki and four apiece from Robin Moy, Mike Robinson and Thomas Robinson. Kubacki also had 5 blocks. Andrew Welter set 35 of 35 with 13 assists, and David Swanson served 3 aces for the Cougars.

Mundelein d. Lake Zurich: Connor Johnson's 7 kills helped lead the Mustangs to a 25-18, 25-17 win in North Suburban Conference action.

Mitchell Baumgartner and Patrick Lentz contributed 6 and 5 kills, respectively, for Mundelein (25-3, 8-1). Baumgartner also had 3 blocks, while Lentz delivered a pair of aces. Andrew Roscoe was 47-of-47 setting with 21 assists.

Lake Zurich (3-23, 1-5) received 8 kills from Chris Carmody.

Libertyville d. Antioch: Matt Tassler pounded 9 kills for the Wildcats in their 25-8, 25-17 win.

Eric Handrich added 7 kills for Libertyville (11-21, 4-4), while Andrew Bitta served 6 aces. Max Kornfeld set 36 of 37 with 21 assists.
