Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup
The defensive woes that have plagued St. Edward's softball team the past several games took a day off Tuesday.
The Green Wave, which had committed 25 errors in its last four games, had just one miscue Tuesday and downed Marian Central 5-2 in a Suburban Christian Conference game in Woodstock.
BreAunna Medinger allowed just 4 hits to pick up the win for St. Edward (12-10, 5-5).
Freshman Kali Kosskowski was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for the Wave, while Kristina Brockner (2-for-4), Veronica Rolando and Taylor Lundquist also had RBI. Maddie Kerr added a double.
"It was good to see the girls get back on track," said St. Edward coach Mike Rolando.
Bartlett 8, Streamwood 2: Lisa Matsie was 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI and Kelsey Warrick had 2 hits and an RBI as Bartlett (14-6, 8-2) won in the Upstate Eight Conference. Callie Dennison (11-4) struck out six and allowed 4 hits in earning the win. Helene Eckler was 2-for-3 for the Sabres (5-12, 1-7), while Delaney O'Malley and Jenn Mellenthin each drove in runs. Ally Montemeyer suffered the loss for Streamwood.
Neuqua Valley 11, Larkin 1: The Royals (6-15, 3-6) committed 7 errors in this Upstate Eight loss in Naperville. Ashley Frey had an RBI for Larkin and Megan Johnson (2-5) suffered the loss in the circle.
South Elgin 20, East Aurora 6: The Storm (7-10, 4-5) pounded out 23 hits in this five-inning Upstate Eight rout of East Aurora in Aurora. Sam Bolin (4-for-5, HR, 5 RBI), Kara Rodriguez (2-for-3, 2B), Kiersa Parillo (2-for-2, 3 RBI), Danielle Susman (2-for-2, 2b, 3 RBI), Courtney Bosteder (3-for-5, 2B), Rae Bosteder (2-for-4) and Desiree Aranda (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) all had big days for South Elgin. Xenia Cerda was the winning pitcher.
