Pizza, beer tasting in Crystal Lake to benefit kids with autisim

The seventh annual Pizza & Beer Tasting hosted by Nick's Pizza & Pub will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, April 29.

Every year during Autism Awareness Month, local micro-brewers and beer distributors join together at Nick's Pizza & Pub, 856 Pyott Road, Crystal Lake to help raise money for the Children's Center for Autism.

The event was designed to be casual, inexpensive, and easy for families to attend.

"This event has been fabulous for us. Nick and all the brewers have helped us carve a fundraising niche that is uniquely ours. No evening gowns to buy or tuxedos to rent and you can take your kids!" said Ken Gustin, chairman of the advisory board.

Enjoy handcrafted microbrews, pizza, silent auction, live auction, gift raffles, cash raffle and more. Nick's will be decorated with puzzle pieces and information on autism and the children's center while the banquet room will be filled with activities for kids.

Tickets are $40, $10 for children ages 13-20 and free for kids ages 12 and younger.

For tickets, call the Children's Center for Autism at (847) 639-4155.

Checks, cash and all major credit cards accepted. Carryout is available between 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. to support the event. Nick's will donate 100 percent of the net proceeds from the day to the Children's Center for Autism.
