Get ready for the ACTHigh school juniors looking to get a head start on the ACT are invited to a free practice test from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the West Dundee Safety Center at Route 72 and Sleepy Hollow Road. The Dundee Township Public Library, along with the Sylvan Learning Center, are offering the opportunity for students planning to take the ACT on the upcoming test dates, which are fast-approaching on April 17 and June 12. Evaluations and score reports, as well as test-taking tips and strategies, will be provided to students and parents via a future group meeting. Students must bring a calculator; all other materials will be provided. The test is free of charge, but registration is required. Space is limited to 25 students and the last day to register is Feb. 18. The library is at 555 Barrington Ave. (Rt. 68) in East Dundee.Health department offers pneumonia shotsThe McHenry County Health Department is offering pneumonia vaccines to county residents 65 and older and people 19 to 64 who smoke or have a chronic illness. The vaccine is not recommended for pregnant women, and the health department recommends you consult with your doctor before getting vaccinated. The vaccine is free for people with Medicare Part B or Medicaid; otherwise it costs $35. The health department is 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Annex A, Woodstock.
