Holiday Happenings at the Addison Park District
December is here with opportunities galore to celebrate the holidays or begin new family traditions with the Addison Park District.
Create an amazing gingerbread house in our kitchen – and leave the clean up for us! On Saturday, December 10 starting at 10:00 a.m. you can learn the secret to creating a gingerbread house from the experts at the Addison Park District. All supplies are included in the cost of the class and a holiday snack and beverage will be provided for all participants.
Santa is making a special stop in Addison collecting wish-lists from area children on Sunday, December 11. Kids of all ages are invited to Breakfast with Santa at Community Rec. Center, 120 E. Oak Street at either 8:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. Don't forget to bring your camera to take a picture with Santa. Tickets will not be sold at the door and pre-registration is required. For tickets to this event, call 630-833-0100.
Be enchanted by the magic of the season during an afternoon performance of The Nutcracker Ballet at the historic Woodstock Opera House on Sunday, December 11. Tickets and transportation are available through the Park District by registering online or calling 630-833-0100.
If hanging holiday lights is one of your seasonal traditions, then discovering non-working lights may be one too! The Addison Park District is recycling holiday lights for residents this year with collection boxes located at both Community Rec Center and Club Fitness/Centennial Rec Center. Now through January 20th, residents can drop off old holiday lights, in working or non-working order during normal operating hours. Lights that will be accepted include: mini-lights (or Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords.
Are you looking for the perfect gift for that special someone in your life? Spread holiday cheer all year long by giving the gift of recreation from the Addison Park District. Gift certificates are available for purchase at Community Rec Center, Club Fitness/Centennial Rec Center or Links & Tees Golf Facility in any denomination. Cash, check, VISA or Master Card are accepted forms of payment. These gift certificates do not have an expiration date; however they are not redeemable for cash.
The Addison Park District is committed to providing the highest quality recreational opportunities and open space for everyone. The 2011-12 Winter/Spring Fun Guide is available in each facility and online at www.addisonparks.org with a full curriculum of leisure activities for all ages and lifestyles.
