Huntley takes 2nd at regional

Class 3A at Harlem: Huntley advanced to the Buffalo Grove sectional by finishing second at the Harlem regional with a 322. Hononegah won the team title at 308 and Rockford Auburn also advanced with a 322. Junior Ryan Craig led Huntley with a 75, while freshman Trent Craig had an 81. Mason Wicks and Tyler Ross each shot 83s for the Red Raiders. Hononegah’s Connor Nelson won the tournament with a 73.

Class 3A at Addison Trail: Bartlett qualified 3 golfers to next week’s Buffalo Grove sectional as junior Ryan Wolfe (77) and seniors Mark Hyzy (80) and Ryan Starks (83) made the cut. The Hawks finished fourth as a team with a 327, missing the team cut by 2 shots. Conant (317), Lake Park (324) and Addison Trail (325 qualified as teams and Lake Park’s Troy Butler (75) was the individual champion.

Class 1A at Westminster Christian: Elgin Academy junior Andrew Dykun was the medalist at Golf Club of Illinois with a 75. Harvest Christian junior Tom Kane (92) and Elgin Academy freshman Gannon Cottone (96) were the other area qualifiers for next week’s Freeport Aquin sectional. North Shore Country Day (321), Timothy Christian (334) and Northridge Prep (363) were the team qualifiers.
