Gary Elementary School Accepts Summer Reading Award Trophy!

“Gary School Rocks because Gary School Reads!!” cheered the students and staff of Gary Elementary School at the Summer Reading Award ceremony. Ms. Shelley Campbell and Ms. Joslyn Jones, employees of the West Chicago Public Library, presented the first ever Summer Reading Award trophy to Gary School. Thanks to the partnership between the District 33 PTOs and the West Chicago Public Library, this award was created to motivate District 33 students to continue reading over the summer break.

According to the West Chicago Public Library, Gary School's participation in the Summer Reading Program, increased by 195% this year versus 2010, from 107 students to 209.

The trophy will remain at Gary School for the 2011/2012 school year, and then will travel to the winning school of the 2012 West Chicago Public Library Summer Reading Program.
