Cook County Legion, IHSBCA postponed

Saturday morning’s heavy rains forced the postponements of the Cook County American Legion baseball tournament and the Lake Park regional championship game of the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Phil Lawler Summer Classic.

Schaumburg and St. Viator will play their IHSBCA game at 9 a.m. Monday at Lake Park. The winner will then play its Elite Eight game at 12:30 p.m. at North Central College in Naperville against Machesney Park Harlem.

As of late Saturday night, the final two games of the Cook County Legion tournament had not been rescheduled.

Palatine has to play Arlington in an elimination game. The winner would then face Elk Grove to determine the Cook County champion and representative in the state tournament in Galesburg starting Wednesday.

Palatine, Arlington and Elk Grove all have 1 loss in the double-elimination tourney.

In the Second Division tournament, Elgin won the championship and advanced to the state tourney with a 16-0 victory in 7 innings over host Lena.
